Winter Days

I'm so sorry that this is another post of snow and cold. Seriously, there is nothing else going on here is this darn state. I was feeling a little bitter towards mother nature when I woke up this morning and saw that it was -17 outside. Now I know why everyone and their mother take a trip down to Florida each spring (spring for you but still winter for us).

What do you do when its too cold to play outside?

Make a volcano cake of course! Rex's first request.

Or, you can go back outside because it is so much fun no matter what.

Looks like I could try freezing water in the air once again.

Rex is 4!

Rex turned four on December 22nd. He was so happy from the start of the day until bedtime. He celebrated his big day by going to an indoor playground (of course) with his favorite buddy and hurrying home for some cupcakes and then making a mad dash to school to celebrate more with his friends there.

*Does anyone have any good ideas for how to celebrate a birthday that is just a few days before Christmas? I want to have it during a time that all of his friends will be able to come.

Happy to be 4!!!

Flashin' the "four"

Christmas

We stayed in our pajamas the ENTIRE day. I highly recommend it.

Ella lovin' all her dress up gear

Feeling blue

We have all been sick (except for Will, he has some kind of special powers that don't allow him to get sick, he never missed a single day of dental school) since Christmas day and I have never been so excited to leave the house. We had croup, one ear infection, coughs, colds, pink eye, and pneumonia. How do you get pink eye if you never leave the house?

Cold Stiff

Because of the low temps last week we thought that we would try a few of those weird Minnesotan things. We froze the kids pajamas outside (it only took 3 minutes). They thought that it was hilarious. We also tried to freeze water in mid-air.

Our first and last attempt to throw boiling water in the air and watch it turn to ice. It was -24 outside and our little experiment did not work. It would have been really cool if we knew exactly what we were doing. I heard that someone used a banana to hammer in a nail. Oh, the things we do when it's so darn cold outside.

Meet our new friends, Ice Cube and Ice T

Hi-ho, hi-ho, off to work I go.....

We stuck the pajamas straight up in the snow to make them look like little children. I know it sounds a little creepy, but it was all to just get a good laugh out of the kids.

It was a bummer that it was still -22 outside when we took these pictures, so we had to hurry and look at the pj's and get the heck inside.

Trapped inside once again

This is hard to believe but MN actually closed all of its schools today because it is -22 outside. I guess this means a heavy dose of cabin fever and more Toy Story to come.

I have never heard of such a thing. I can understand that schools will close if there is a heavy snow storm, a crazy guy running around with a gun, or no running power. I think that this temperature thing could work great in good ol' AZ. How about no school if it is 115 or greater?

Global Warming......WHERE are you?

A few things that I have learned in the last two days:

-Leave your car in a parking lot for just two hours, come out and your windshield is completely covered in ice on the INSIDE of your car. Burrr

-Very low temps can do weird things to the inside of your nose

-Turning your steering wheel towards your neighborhood does not necessarily mean that your car will turn as well. It just means that you will end up facing on coming traffic.

-Sooo cold that I feel actual pain on my face

-Overheard someone say, "It can only get warmer here on out." Huh??
