1 Year Down

One year ago this week we moved into good old Minnesot-ah, ya know. Each time we move it is a little hard but we do our best to adjust and meet new people. This last year has been the most difficult and different from anything else that I have ever experienced. Not to mention very stressful and hard for Will as well. I don't think anything could have prepared our family for resident life. I don't recommend this unless it is truly a passion for your spouse. As you can imagine, I am feeling very trunky and I still have more months than the 4th yr. residents have days.

What I love about MN
-employees say "how can I help you"
-it's basically crime free (relatively speaking)
-no gangsta kids hangin out on my doorstep like in MD
-good place to raise a family
-beautiful lakes and parks everywhere
-best fall leaves!
-skywalks (gerbil-like tunnels for humans)
-lots of free places to go see

What I would like to change about MN
-obviously the cold
-drivers that drive well below the speed limit (very common here)
-summertime sunsets at 10pm
-the tricky driver's test that took me forever to pass
-winters that begin early and end late
-southwest airlines does not fly here, bye-bye $99 tickets
-tornado sirens going off

Overall I have to say that I really do like it here. I just wish that it could be green trees and blue lakes year round.

Hate to Iron?

Wrinkle Releaser! Somebody out there was thinking of me when they made this product. Here is why I love it.

1. It smells good
2. It actually works
3. Great for when you are in a hurry
4. Again, It smells good
5. If your life is busy and you forget about the nice dress shirts that are sitting at
the bottom of you laundry basket, you have a new solution.

Kid Pics

I know that my mom is dying to see how her grandkids pics turned out. I went out to get Ella's 2 year pictures taken and ended up having Rex hop into the mix of things. Ella really did not like sharing the spotlight with him.....that is why you don't see a picture with the two of them together. I keep telling myself that someday I will get them to smile really big and hug each other for a cute picture. I'll let you all know if that day ever comes. Ella was going to hold red tulips in her picture but you can see at the bottom corner of Rex's picture that he was more interested in the flowers than his sister. They both performed well for the camera, just not at the same time. That's okay, at $3.99 per sheet at the mall, I think we did pretty well.

Outside-Outside Please

This is not the amazing tulip garden in Baltimore, this is the fabulous UofM Arboretum just out of Minneapolis. My mom and grandma came out for a week long visit to see mainly myself and the kids. We ate lots of good food, went shopping and enjoyed all the fun outdoorsy things that MN has to offer. I know that I kind of posted a ton of pictures but I just love to look at the tulips and other flowers. I don't know what it is but for some reason my kids refuse to look at the camera when I take pictures or they make a scary face once I have eye contact with them. So, I only have these pictures of everyone staring at the ground. Hopefully they will cave and look into the camera sometime before those teenage years.

TOOT MY HORN
BEEP! BEEP! Yes, I was the town hero for a day or just for five minutes. I was loading my kids into the car when I kept hearing a crackling sound outside, so I looked just outside of my garage and saw flames across the street coming out of my neighbors balcony. My mom called for help while I banged on the neighbors doors like an idiot for people to get out. Soon it was obvious that no people were home. This little neighborhood is so quiet that I wonder how long it would be before anyone noticed the burning balcony. It is scary when you live in a building where you share a wall with other people and you feel like you have no control over things like this.

Rex is thankful for his ears. He has this amazing sunbeam teacher that goes way beyond what is expected of her each week.
