A-Z Please

Grand Canyon Afternoon

Whahoo! We are leaving bright and early in the morning. It is four degrees right now outside of my home and my mother told me to bring a jacket because it is in the sixties in AZ. I'm still not sure if she was joking or not. It will be fun to soak up the warm sun and bask in the brown dirt. I actually love the cold here but I only feel that way because my entire childhood consisted of no snow or long sleeved shirts. Well that's not entirely true, I owned a few long sleeved shirts but found myself taking them off before the day was over because I was hot. Will teases me and says that because I'm mexican, I become easily warm. I'm not sure if that made any sense to anybody reading this. Anyways, I am excited to see the desert for a change.

Tis the season to be......eating TAMALES

Tamales

I can sit down and devour many tamales, I will keep eating them even if I am full. I just love them! The masa is my favorite part and Will thinks that is the worst part of the tamale. I really need to learn how to make them but when I hear of my dad and his sisters spending an entire weekend making them together I feel even more discouraged in learning how to make them. By myself and an entire weekend? I don't think so! Although I am excited to see my family in a few days I am also excited to see a dozen of my little friends wrapped up in corn husks.

Ugh!

We received a wonderful package in the mail recently that also contained some styrofoam peanuts. Yesterday I was trying to fill out my Christmas cards when in the background I could hear Rex and Ella giggling and laughing continuously. I was relieved to have some time to myself to fill out the addresses so I did not go and check on them. When I was finished I found white styrofoam crumbled up pieces everywhere. This stuff is about as easy to clean up as glitter. Everytime I tried to sweep up the mess, the styrofoam pieces would magicially move up my arm, stick to my fingers, and cling to anything except the trashcan. Later that night we had to go around and vacuum up every spot that Rex and Ella touched. I think next time I will think twice before giving them a box with any packaging materials to play with.

Snow Day

Thankfully we have something to show for the cold temperatures. Unfortunately it has been well below 32 degrees and this snow is not going to melt anytime soon. The snow just remains nice and fluffy as though it just fell. Lately it just stays in the teens and remains in that temp for the rest of the day. I was told today that this is not the cold weather that MN is known for. Well, I already see people ice fishing on the lakes, no sign of any snow melting, and locals wearing very light clothing when they go outside. I guess I will just have to wait and see what Jan. and Feb. have in store for us. Can't wait!

Jump-O-Lene

Ok, this is not as ridiculous as it looks in this picture. For $29.99 I bought a little piece of heaven for Rex and Ella. The kids have been suffering from cabin fever and I had to get a little creative with bringing something into the home that allows them to still jump around. This toy blows up in a few minutes and it is easy to put away and hide for awhile. I will buy anything that can easily be stored out of the way.
