I Wanna Be Sedated

Oh, those resident contests that make no sense

May 2006

Late night

This is what Rex and Ella looked like at the beginning of the residency

Will's graduation. My parents and Will's mother came for this special day. We were brave enough to bring the kids but not brave enough to bring Olivia (she was 18 months old and too busy to sit quietly in a chair).

I am so proud of Will and for all of his hard work. It has been interesting to watch him grow and learn from all of these various experiences that he has received throughout his education. I am always amazed at the things he shares with me from a typical day at the hospital. I have watched him study until late hours at night, stress over many presentations, miss meals at home for weeks at a time, literally fall asleep as soon as his head touches the pillow while I am still talking to him, and many nights of little to no talking because of the work load. These past four years have certainly felt like 40 yrs instead of 4. It has been lonely and hard without Will around but I am so glad to have him back. I am thankful that the "resident life" is behind us and we can now say that we survived these past four years. I know that I have learned so many great things and I am grateful for these experiences that have helped me to strive to become a better person.

**Within 3 months of starting his residency, Will lost 25 lbs. (lots of stress)

**Within 3 months of ending his residency, Will gained 25 lbs. (not so much stress)
