It's Fall Time

I went a little picture crazy because it is fall time here in Minnesota. First, you must understand that I grew up in the desert where there is no such thing as a "season." I did not see beautiful leaves change colors or visit any farms that had pumpkins, apple trees, or corn fields. Each year that I have been away from Arizona during the fall time I completely marvel at the vibrant colors and changes. I try to pack in as many trips to the pumpkin farms and festivals as possible.

McDougall Farm
Still cannot get them to pose nicely and smile at the camera. Each year I visualize my kids sitting there either hugging or Ella sitting in Rex's lap with big smiles on their faces. I keep thinking that when they get older they will comply better but now I'm really starting to wonder if I missed that window.

PUMPKIN HOUSE
The kids did not want to leave this little house. We had to beg them to go see the rest of the farm.

APPLE DONUTS
I have been craving these apple donuts since last year. I was not going to let anything stop us from eating them this year. This particular farm only took cash and we had already spent our money on donuts and funky squash. Everyone kept asking for more donuts, Will and myself wanted more as well. I had all of our fresh pumpkins ready to go and then I had to decide....hmmm....do I buy pumpkins or buy hot fresh apple donuts. The donuts won! After going to the pumpkin patch and riding in the wagon and picking out our own pumpkins, I discreetly put the pumpkins back and Will made a mad dash to buy more apple donuts. Later that week I went to the grocery store and picked out pumpkins for the kids. Not as cool as going to a farm but at least our tummmies were satisfied.

It was really windy outside which made the kids more excited to run around and around.

Rex and Ella trying to pull the yellow leaves off our only tree.

Ella excited to be up in the tree.

HALLOWEEN HOUSE
More eating than decorating going on here.

I asked my kids to smile for this picture and Ella immediately gave me a sad face. I guess she gets it from her mother. The kids were so excited this year to make another Halloween House. They were not as messy as last year but they certainly had fun getting a little dirty. Things were going just fine until Will wrote each of their names on the side of the house and then it became a war for who could have his/her name facing the front. Oh, brother.

Oh, my goodness, Nanci. Those pictures are gorgeous. I've never seen leaves that red. How beautiful. I'm glad you're soaking it all up.
